How Long, O Lord (Psalm 13)

For a long time, there has been a dearth of biblical Lament music within Christianity. This modern day Lament based off of Psalm 13 begins with an honest expression of the questions we are often left with in pain and suffering, but ends with a confident expression moving forward in faith.

Lyrics

1. How long, O Lord, must You hide Your face?

Forever seems so long.

I've told myself there is no grace

and sadness is my song.

2. Look down, O Lord, and see my pain

And let Your eyes meet mine.

May the light of Your gaze, mine eyes aflame,

The sleep of death, outshine.

3. How long, O Lord, will your steadfast love,

Its goodness never cease.

All the times that I struggled, You were there

Bringing all Your hope and peace.

Concluding Chorus: I will trust, I will sing, I rejoice in You

Though my heart aches with pain, You've been good to me.

I will choose to rejoice, counting all anew

as I find peace in You.
